I'd like a 3 ccd camera that does decent low-light shots (1/3 inch, I
suppose?) and also has XLR connections for microphones. Any
suggestions? Anything out there for close to a grand?

The Panasonic AG-DVX100B ($2649.95 at B&H) or Sony DSR-PD170
($2599.95 at B&H) are both well over your budget. Don't know what they
go for used, however. Perhaps some kind soul moving up from SD to HD
and disposing of their old equipment would offer you a good price.

YOu can probably find an XL1 for near that Price now. The MA100 attachment
will add XLR connectors to it.

no. not new anyway. best decent low light is a Sony V1E, but I'd buy a
Canon XHA1... problem is, they are both well over 2000 UK sterling

Thanks for the input.

What do you think of the BeachTek Dual XLR Adapters? One of these
might do the trick with a less expensive video camera.

Yes, many of us use various Beachtek (or other equivalent)
models with good results.
